MOUNT
OUSLEY
PRIMARY
SCHOOL

Stage 1 - This outdoor learning space was designed to represent the unique beauty of the Illawarra landscape, where the mountains are so close to the ocean. With the curved sandstone wall at the top of the hill representing the escarpment down through the plants and hopping logs representing the bush, to the sand pit and boats at the bottom moored in the harbour.

It is a beautiful space for the students to learn. Shady spots are utilised, with timber decked seats constructed under mature trees and timber benches with shelves, to store the students learning materials.

This is a very unique project that not only aides education in a relaxed outdoor environment but also pays homage to our beautiful Wollongong Landscape. It certainly was a privilege to design and construct this space with a very passionate principal and school community.

Stage 2 - It was a privilege to be asked to return to Mount Ousley Primary School and create an informal seating area and garden bed. The existing curved sandstone wall was utilised to lead into a new circular garden bed, surrounding established trees. This was built using Gabion Walls, filled with Sandstone and finished with composite decking. A perfect spot for the kids to sit and enjoy.
